The Preliminary 2010 Schedule is posted.

AYC Spring One Design Regatta - April 24, 2010

This event began in 1990 with the advent of the J/22 fleet at AYC.  It has been expanded to include several other one design keelboats.  In the recent past it has served as a popular warm-up for the NOOD regatta.

Wednesday Night Series - Apr 28-Sep 8, 2010

After seeing the Wednesday Night Races at East Greenwich Yacht Club in Rhode Island in 1958, Past Commodore Gaither Scott inaugurated midweek racing at the Annapolis Yacht Club in 1959.  There was no race committee for the initial events, nor were the races scored or prizes award.  There was, however, a picnic supper after sailing.  Today, 150 yachts compete in the midweek festivities in a variety of  handicap and one design classes.  Participation is open to members of the Annapolis Yacht Club only.

Annapolis NOOD Regatta - April 28-May 2, 2010

Hosted by AYC, with on-the-water assistance from Eastport Yacht Club and Severn Sailing Association, this is the largest of the NOOD Regattas held around the country. Four racing circles allow great competition for 250 plus boats competing in an average of 20 different one design classes with AYC's RC running two of the four circles.

Spring Race - May 8, 2010

This event began in 1946, but was discontinued in 1999 to make room on the schedule for the NOOD Regatta.  It was reinstituted in 2007 to provide racing for the handicap classes that are ineligible to sail in the one design oriented NOOD.

Herreschoff Spring Regatta - May 8, 2010

CRAB Cup - May 15 & 16, 2010

Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating (CRAB) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to making the thrill of sailing a reality for physically and/or developmentally-challenged individuals.  AYC annually hosts this two day event and it is one of the highlights of Race Committee's schedule. The event is raced on modified, Freedom 20s.

Star Lippincott Memorial Regatta and Etchells Spring Regatta - May 22 & 23, 2010

The Lippincott Trophy was competed for on Barnegat Bay.  The names of many of the greats of the Star class appear on the trophy.  With the decline of the Star fleet on Barnegat Bay the trophy was rededicated in 1996 to this AYC event.  In 2002 the growing Etchells class was added to the regatta.

Leukemia Cup - June 12, 2010

The Annapolis Leukemia Cup Regatta is a fund raising event benefiting the Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Hosted by Eastport Yacht Club, AYC's Race Committee has annually run one of the race circles for this worthwhile event.

AYC Annual Regatta - Jun 19 & 20, 2010

Begun in 1937, this event provides racing for both handicap and cruising one design fleets.  Run over a June weekend, big boats sail one day, smaller boats the other day with a party for Skippers and Crew on the Saturday evening of the event.

AYC Summer One Design Regatta - July 24, 2010

As interest in small one design keelboat racing grew, this event was begun in 1991 as a J/22 event.  Like the spring event, it has been expanded to include other classes.

CBYRA Race Week - September 4-6, 2010

Race Week was begun by AYC, but is now a CBYRA event with four race courses and clubs from all over the Bay providing race management.  AYC runs one of the courses every year and hosts the parties at the Junior Sailing Annex property.

Herreschoff Fall Regatta - September 11, 2010

Yacht Club Team Race Challenge - Sep 25 & 26, 2010

AYC Fall Series - October 2/3, 9/10, 16/17, 2010

Begun in 1940, the AYC Fall Series has always been a major event for Bay sailors.  For years it was a must do stop for boats headed south to sail the SORC over the winter.  Fall Series remains a staple of late season racing in the Chesapeake region.  Held on the first three weekends in October in continues to attract a large high quality fleet of handicap and cruising one design boats.

Etchells/Star Fall Regatta - October 30 & 31, 2010

This regatta was instituted in 2003 to celebrate the formation of Etchells Fleet 28.  Although the Etchells was designed by Skip Etchells, a Bay sailor, there had never been a fleet of Etchells on the Chesapeake Bay.  Mary Etchells, Skip's wife, presented the trophy to the winning boat in the event.  Stars and Etchells coexist nicely on the same race course, so the Star class was added to the regatta in 2004.

J/105 Chesapeake Bay Championship - October 20 & 31, 2010

This traditional season finale for the J/105 fleet provides great racing and a final tune-up for the travellers heading south for the winter events.

J/22 AYC/SSA Club Championship - November 6, 2010

A regatta to crown the AYC J/22 club champion was started in 1991.  In recent years the regatta has been joined by sailors from Severn Sailing Association, also competing for their Club Championship.  Race management alternates between the two clubs.

Frostbite Series - Begins November 7, 2010

Frostbite racing at the Annapolis Yacht Club began in the winter of 1962-1963.  Seven Rainbows were the inaugural class with five short races a day, starting and finishing at the club.  Gladiators joined the Frostbite racing in the fall of 1963 and MORC made the third class in 1964.  The first Hangover Bowl (New Year's Day) was held in 1966.

Today, Frostbite racing is split into two halves; from November to mid December and late January, early February to the end of March with Hangover Bowl on New Year's Day.   The event is open to members of the Annapolis Yacht Club, Eastport Yacht Club, Naval Academy Sailing Squadron, and Severn Sailing Association.  Competitors vie for awards in several classes: PHRF, J-105, J-80, J-22, J-24, Cat-27 and Cal 25.
