2009 Fall Optimist Racing Program

2009 Fall High School Racing Program

We offer two courses of instruction for High School Sailors. A beginning sailor or someone with limited dinghy experience will most likely be on the Junior Varsity squad. This level is designed as a fast track to crew on your team, it is also a great class for a crew to get more helm time. The coaching staff will make the decision about which team a sailor will practice with.

Sailors with previous dingy racing experience will probably make the Varsity team. The varsity program will prepare sailors for competition against other schools. Sailors will practice drills, tactical discussions and rules situations to prepare them for interscholastic competition. The AYC Coaching staff will make the final decision regarding a sailors placement in classes.
