J/I Committee
What We Do:
Each year the J/I Committee plans signature events centered around the youthful members of the club, both on and off of the water. The committee's annual “bum-a-boat” raft up in Lake Ogleton is considered by many to be the highlight of the summer boating season where those members who do not own a boat are encouraged to hitch a ride with another member to get to the party. Another highlight of the boating season is the Annual Cruise to St. Mike's. This three day event in St. Michael's, MD is a great way to have fun in a relaxing resort-like atmosphere. The event is kicked off on Friday afternoon with happy hour on the dock while boats arrive, followed by a casual day on Saturday including a crab feast. The event un-winds on Sunday with breakfast on the dock before heading back to the Western shore. Off the water, the committee sponsors wine and beer tasting events as well as the annual Spring Kickoff and Fall parties. If it's not fun, it's not a J/I event!
Membership Development:
The J/I Committee also works to promote AYC membership at the Junior and Intermediate levels. Each and every J/I member will tell you why he or she joined AYC and why they enjoy being part of the AYC family. The J/I Committee understands the responsibility of building a strong membership base to support and grow AYC in generations to come. While both current J/I's and those who have fleeted up are more than willing to share the many benefits of AYC membership at a young age, the J/I's believe that membership development is a by-product of exposure to good people and fun events.
Mission Statement:
This Committee shall foster continuity in the progression of membership from Junior to Regular within the Club, and conduct a program of events to develop an active, committed, and supportive base of young members.
