Junior Sailing

Mission Statement The AYC Junior Fleet will provide a  • Safe,  • Fun,  • Educational program for youth interested in sailing and boating.   We will impart the love of sailing and boating as a lifetime sport while providing the fundamental skills necessary for participants to advance in the sport as far as their desire, skill and hard work may take them.   Our coaches will provide a curriculum with current and effective techniques. Creating skilled and competent youths who respect others care for their equipment and the marine environment, and be willing to help fellow sailors and boaters on and off the water.  Our sailors will conduct themselves in Corinthian Spirit in practice and competition. All Junior fleet sailors will emerge with an enhanced sense of self-reliance, knowledge of seamanship, an appreciation of teamwork and a solid foundation in sailing and boating.

Sailing Programs

The Junior Fleet takes part in many International regattas, traveling all over the world to places like England, Belgium, the Netherlands, South America, and New Zealand, with recent races in Garda, Italy and Haifa, Israel.

Fall, Winter & Spring

In the Fall and Spring, the Junior Fleet provides coaching for Severna Park, Annapolis, Indian Creek, St. Mary's high school sailing programs.  Practice takes place during the week to prepare for regattas on the weekends.

During the Winter, the teams head to Florida for regattas and to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather.

In Fall, Winter and Spring, coaching, instruction, and racing is provided for Optis and 420s.

Summer

In the Summer, kids are welcome to join AYC's Summer Junior Sailing Program.  A Summer camp on the water, this program offers experience with boats to children ranging from ages 5 to 18.
