Boat Shows Are Here and We Begin Our Run through the Fall and Holiday Seasons

The Most Exciting Club Events Take Place in the Fall . . .

In October, we enjoy the largest in-water boat shows in Annapolis Harbor. With an entrance just off our main parking lot, you can enjoy the show and then stop by your club for cocktails or a meal. We will, again, be open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 12 for the last day of the U.S. Sailboat Show. Then at 5 p.m., join us for our break-up party on the third deck. Watch the boats depart while enjoying Oktoberfest fare.

For me, the boat shows signal the beginning of a flurry of terrific events starting with another Cooking Luncheon on Oct. 27 featuring holiday foods. The Children’s Halloween Party follows on Wednesday, Oct. 28. AYC children are not only tops in the water -- they sport some of the most creative costumes areound. Even if you don’t have young children or grandchildren in the area, you’ll want to come in for dinner that evening to enjoy the parade throughout the clubhouse.

In November, we have another of our Afternoon English Teas, our ever popular Middle School Etiquette Night, the J/Is Fall Party, our Fashion Show, a fantastic Thanksgiving buffet dinner, and the Father/ Daughter Luncheon. The return of Y-A-C-H-T and Family Night happens on Saturday, Nov. 21.

. . . and There Are Still On the Water Activities to Be Enjoyed

Chip Thayer and the Race Committee are busy with the Fall Series, the Etchells/Stars Fall Regatta, and the J/105 Chesapeake Bay Championship. Then Bobby Frey and the Special Events Race Committee start the 2009-2010 Frostbite season on Sunday, Nov. 8.

The Cruising Fleet has just a couple more cruises lined up for the fall -- Chestertown, Fall Foliage, and St. Michael’s. Then they get together on Nov. 6 to share stories and memories at the End of Season Dinner.
