General Manager’s Message:

Sally English to Return to AYC

by Stephen Creese, General Manager

Welcome Back to an Old Friend

Welcome back to Sally English who has dedicated a good portion of her life to serving the members of the Annapolis Yacht Club. Sally was hired in 1973 and will be returning to her server position at the Club on Sunday, March 7 after recovering from very successful foot surgery. Welcome Back Sally, we have all missed you lots!

Update Your Contact Information

We find e-mail a very useful way of communicating so it is paramount that we keep our database of member e-mail addresses up to date.  To ensure that we are getting our messages out to you, please provide you and your spouse’s current e-mail address.  Please e-mail any changes to accounting@annapolisyc.org or you can update your profile at any time on our website.

Happy Hour is always Hot

The Cruising Fleet continues to be as active as ever with their happy hours on the second and fourth Friday of the month.  Piggybacking on these nights is the Membership Committee’s “Membership Recruiting Fridays Happy Hour” where you can show off your clubhouse to potential new members.

New Events in the Month of March

We have two new events, Celebrate the Grape and AYC Remembers scheduled in March.  Celebrate the Grape is a new wine tasting series that highlights certain types of wines from around the world.  This month, we will explore wines from South America.  We hope to see you on Thursday, March 4 in the Skipjack.  Please call for reservations.  AYC Remembers is scheduled to take place on the evening of Tuesday, March 23. The event is going to highlight the history of your club by turning the Skipjack into a museum filled with items from our club’s past.  As many of you know, there are always surprises to be found and we look forward to sharing them with you.  Dinner will be served on the third deck.  The cost for this fabulous event is $18.86.  Please call the front desk to make your reservation.

Friday, March 5 marks the return of the Capitol Steps show at the St. John’s College Francis Scott Key Auditorium.  On Wednesday, March 17, Captain Bill Band of the Maryland Pilots will be the star of our Wednesday Night Lecture Series.  He will discuss his “View from the Bridge” of the Columbus Ohio, the commercial vessel that he calls his office.  This month’s children’s movie night is Friday, March 12 and we will be showing Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs –a movie based on the bestselling children’s book by the same name.  Our Yoga classes will continue on Saturday, March 13 and Wednesday, March 16.  The ever popular Y-A-C-H-T night is scheduled on Friday, March 19.  Please call the Front Desk to make reservations.

Brenda Niemeyer Named Associate of the Month

Congratulations are due to Brenda Niemeyer, a member of my Front Desk team who was selected as Associate of the Month for February.  Brenda’s strong work ethic and rapport with the membership made her an obvious choice for this honor.   Thank you, Brenda for your dedication to the Annapolis Yacht Club.

As always, I am interested in your ideas, comments and suggestions. Please fill in a comment card, drop me an e-mail at screese@annapolisyc.org, give me a call at 410-263-9279 extension 222 or, better yet, stop by and say hello.
