Junior Fleet NOODs Wrap Up
Keenan Hilsinger, Waterfront Administrator
Annapolis Harbor saw 189 boats hit the water for three days of racing in the annual NOOD regatta, sponsored by Helly Hansen. Over the course of the event, sailors saw varying weather conditions with a wind range from very light up to 28 knots. All of the fleets got at least eight races in over the three days. Among the fleet there were numerous AYC junior sailors competing, including the Helly Hansen AYC Junior Team sailing in the J80 fleet. They ended up finishing in 19th place versus some very tough competition in a boat they had not sailed much leading up the regatta. USA 788 was skippered by Carter O’Neill, Caroline Hugo trimmed main, Izzy Fadullon trimmed headsails, Grace O’Brien was in charge of the pit, and Chase Conway was on bow.
On the same course, James Golden skippered a J70, USA 27. He was joined by Luke Koerschner, Peter Lobaugh, and Nick Papadopoulos. They finished 15th overall and 6th in the Corinthian fleet.
On the inner circle, Zander King drove a J22, USA 696. His crew was Jordan Bruce, Ryan Wahba, and Sam Bruce. They ended up in 12th place. Some other youth sailors were also out racing.
Sam White sailed with the J30 Blitz, finishing in 10th place. Andrew Tollefson got to crew on a RS 21, and they finished in 3rd place.
