High School Regatta Recap
Sarah Alexander, 420 Program Manager
We had three successful regattas this weekend! Saturday’s Varsity regatta at DC Sail had really light wind, but there were still eight races. All of our Varsity teams attended and sailed well. St. Mary’s placed third, Annapolis was sixth, Key was eighth, and Severna Park placed ninth out of fifteen boats.
On Sunday, four of our JV teams and all of our Varsity teams travelled to BCSC. It was a gorgeous day for sailing with a steady Southerly breeze that lightened up a bit throughout the day. There were six long races for both JV and Varsity. Our JV teams have been improving quickly this season and St. Mary’s sailed very well and placed second, Severna Park was eighth, Indian Creek was twelfth, and Key was fifteenth.
St. Mary’s Varsity team also sailed well in the heavy wind and placed second, followed by Annapolis High in seventh, Key School in ninth, and Severna Park in tenth out of eighteen teams. Thanks to BCSC for running a great event!
