The countdown clock on the website seems to move faster once we get within a few weeks of departure for the 475NM race from Annapolis to Newport. Currently there are 56 boats registered in the 2019 edition, and owners are furiously working to wrap up their documentation and crew waivers to “check all the boxes” before setting sail. The race is once again split between two starts with the slower boats on Friday and faster on Saturday, with the intention of getting everyone to Newport in time for the post-race celebrations. This year the Event Committee is pleased to announce a move to Waites Wharf for the awards party and trophy presentation. The Deck restaurant, with its expansive deck overlooking Newport Harbor, will welcome competitors and VIPs on Wednesday, June 12 at 3:30 pm. This year we are pleased to announce two new race partners, Goslings and Boston Beer, who will be featured at both the Competitors Party at AYC and the awards party at The Deck. In addition to these big events, competitors will be able to enjoy sponsor products at the Hospitality Tent at Newport Yachting Center where the majority of the boats will be berthed upon their arrival in Newport. We are excited to return to Castle Hill Light for the finish and to welcome over 450 crew across the line including 4 vessels crewed by Navy Midshipmen.
