Annapolis to Newport Race – 3 days and Counting

Linda Ambrose, Regatta Manager

It seems only yesterday that the countdown clock on the 2019 Annapolis to Newport Race Official Site reflected 60+ days, but that’s long gone. It’s now time to finish up final preparations for the crews and off they head on their 475NM journey to Newport, Rhode Island.

The first group will head out on Friday, including boats entered in ORC 2, ORR 2, PHRF 2, Performance Cruising, Classic, and Double-Handed classes. Saturday sends the ORC 1A, ORC 1B, ORR 1, and PHRF 1 sailors on their way.

You can follow the competitors as they make their way down the Bay and make the turn north on the YB Tracker Site. The trackers, an integral part of the competition, are sponsored this year by Barbados Tourism Marketing, Inc. The awards party and trophy presentation has a new home this year, The Deck at Waites Wharf, and the ceremony begins at 1530 on Wednesday, June 12.
