Ewenson at Champion of Champions Competition 
This past weekend, U.S. Sailing's Champion of Champions event was sailed on provided Ideal 18s at Stamford Yacht Club. Geoff Ewenson and Skipper Christopher Raab were on the podium to accept the 3rd place trophy after 13 races in a competition against 19 other top teams from around the country.
79th Fall Series Weekends – Two Down, One To Go 
In planning the 2019 Fall Series schedule, the Sailing Committee looked back at various iterations of the Club’s popular multi-weekend regatta and suggested a format tailored to participating classes. Weekend 1 had J/22s and J/80s sailing drop-marks courses on Saturday and Sunday.

AYC Double Handed Distance Race Success 
Months in the planning, including ensuring that safety requirements for both the boats and crew were met and that the weather cooperated for the course chosen by the PRO, Jim Capron, Sunday afternoon the last of the 17 boats entered in the event crossed the finish line at 16:29:23.
2019 J/70 North Americans 
Hosted by Edgewater Yacht Club in Cleveland, the regatta wrapped up on Sunday with 10 races on the board and a number of Club members and Annapolis locals listed in the top 20.

Weekend Racing Wrap Up 
The Race Committees for both the Fall Race to Solomons and the J/30 North Americans were on pins and needles waiting to see if they lucked out with better than predicted conditions, and BOTH were rewarded in the long run for their patience.
J/22s Available for 2019-2020 Frostbite Series 
Prior to the recent Annapolis YC 3-2-1 Invitational our J/22s had a bit of a face lift, so the hulls are buffed, any rigging or equipment in need of TLC has been updated, and all boats were equalized before sailing, so… time to think about chartering one for the upcoming Frostbite Series.

Annapolis YC 3-2-1 Invitational Wrap Up 
The inaugural ANNAPOLIS YC 3-2-1 Invitational wrapped up Sunday after 21 flights and 63 races over three days of chamber of commerce weather. New York Yacht Club won the historic Sparkman and Stevens trophy followed by Annapolis Yacht Club 2 in second and Severn Sailing Association in third.

AYC 3-2-1 Invitational Brings Unique Format to New National Trend 
Annapolis Yacht Club has created its own regatta that will be different from anything currently out there. Commodore Jim Ellis is proud to announce the inaugural AYC 3-2-1 Invitational will be held this coming weekend with a total of seven teams participating.
Watching the 3-2-1: Best Spectator & Photo Ops in Sailing 
Tacking duels, fake jibes, “emergency spins” to exonerate fouls: all these wild maneuvers and more will be on display this weekend, as AYC sailors take on the New York Yacht Club and five other teams in the innovative 3-2-1 regatta.

AYC Inaugural Events Around the Corner 
Later this week we will host the first Annapolis YC 3-2-1 Invitational with teams from around the US competing in both team and match racing disciplines. Following on the heels of the “3-2-1” is the AYC Double Handed Distance Race with close to 20 competitors in both a one design J/105 class as well as ORC entries.

Fall Racing Includes Distance and Drop Marks Courses 
With the calendar turned to September, that means the Fall Race to Solomons and AYC’s 79th Fall Series are just around the corner.
Another ALDR for the Books 
The Annapolis Labor Day Regatta, which is co-organized by AYC and EYC, wrapped up with 81 boats entered in nine different classes. Saturday’s initial prediction of light air ended up being the best of the two days for the regatta.

Member Success in Viper 640s, J/111s, and Penguins 
It’s gratifying to see how many different classes our members and their spouses compete in throughout the year, both locally and at national and worldwide venues.
AYC Brings Corinthian Cup Home 
With the best Annapolis conditions to date for the SFYC/AYC Corinthian Cup, AYC’s Open and Junior teams had a stellar performance on the water in the annual “friendly” competition with San Francisco Yacht Club.

Interclub Racing Event Comes to AYC 
The inaugural Annapolis 3-2-1 Invitational is a couple of weeks away and members of the Adult Interclub Race Committee are hard at work prepping all aspects of this new regatta.
Kick Off to AYC's Fall Regatta Schedule 
With the temps still in the 90s and two more WNRs to go, it’s hard to believe that the official kick off for fall racing starts on August 31 with the first day of the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta.
J/111 Worlds in Chicago 
The J/111 World Championship kicks off today with 23 competitors, including AYC members Jim Connelly on Slush Fund and Marty Roesch’s Velocity. In 2020 AYC will play host to the class for their North American Championship.
RC Boats are Back in the Basin 
After a great kick off event earlier in the summer, the first fall “messing around in boats” event will take place in the basin at the Sailing Center tomorrow evening, August 20, from 5-7 pm.

TAYC Hosts Race to Oxford 
Known as “Summer Oxford” to many, our friends on the Eastern Shore hosted the Race to Oxford on Friday afternoon which kicked off in very shifty conditions.
Askew’s Wizard Wins Fastnet Race 
Adding to their already impressive list of podium finishes around the globe, David Askew and brother Peter can now add Overall Winner of the 2019 Fastnet Race. The boat and crew posted an amazing performance in a year when many speed records were broken in this event.
