2019 North East River Yacht Club’s Annual Jr. Fall CBYRA Regatta

Ten Annapolis Yacht Club sailors traveled to the head of the Chesapeake Bay to compete in the annual North East River Jr. Fall Regatta. This is the second to last Regatta of the CBYRA Junior Regatta circuit for 2019. Our sailors had some outstanding results at this year’s event.

Saturday morning started off with breeze ranging from 5-6 knots and then built to 8-10 knots in the afternoon. AYC had four RWB sailors and six Green Fleeters competing for the championship. AYC’s top RWB Sailor was Ava Arepally, sailing very consistently throughout the day. Our teams, both RWB and Green Fleet, were getting off the line this weekend with excellent boat speed, clear lanes, and front row starts. As their coach it was very exciting to watch our summer’s hard work paying off!!

Congrats goes out to our top three Green Fleet sailors this weekend for sailing extremely fast and smart. Ben Gendell sailed very well to win the regatta, followed closely by Tommy McGeady in second place, and Luke Reinecke (sailing his first Green Fleet Regatta ever!) placing 3rd overall and receiving a bullet in one race.

Our Annapolis Yacht Club Opti Teams are getting excited for our last CBYRA Regatta of the year, which will be located in our home waters of Annapolis, Maryland. Our Annual Halloween Howl is always a big treat! Our sailors get to come to the regatta dressed up in their Halloween costumes.
