Team AYC at Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club

AYC team racers enjoyed another spectacular weekend in Oyster Bay, just off of Long Island, NY, racing against yacht clubs from across the country. Seawanhaka Yacht Club (SYC) hosted this excellent regatta. Conditions were perfect with moderate winds and temperatures for the 30 races conducted across two days.

The AYC team of grandmasters, coed, and young racers continued to grow as a team and execute team plays against great competitors. In one photo finish, we came from behind at mark 4 to take a 1, 3, and 5 for the win, and we won the fleet race at the end of Sunday. Team AYC finished in third place. Special thanks to the young guns Gina Henderson, John Howell, and Richard Born for upping our game. Skipper Derick Lynch with crew Bonnie Urban, Gina Henderson, and Margaret Podlich; skipper Pete Firey with crew Bill Vickers, John Howell, and Ron Anderson; skipper Rob Floyd with crew Richard Born, Tim Bloomfield, and Vernon Sheen. SCYC ran an excellent regatta and put together a wonderful Saturday evening on the sound with a Cuban band, dancing, food, and cigars enjoyed by us, our competitors, and the SCYC general membership.
